AIZAWL, Aug 16 - No one has been found responsible for the collapse of a building at the BSUP (Basic Services for Urban Poor) housing complex near Aizawl on July 2 that killed three people.
Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo informed the media here that a magisterial inquiry report found no negligence in the collapse of the building.
“Since no negligence has been found, no one can be held responsible for the disaster,” Chuaungo said. He said the inquiry report, however, observed that the location was not suitable for such a large housing complex.
The collapse of the building, triggered by a massive landslide, killed two children and a 52-year-old woman.
The Mizoram Government ordered a magisterial inquiry headed by the Aizawl DC who submitted the report on July 30.
