DIMAPUR, Aug 16 - Referring to the Naga political issue, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that the Naga people should not miss the “golden opportunity” (for a solution) this time. He was addressing the 73rd Independence Day function at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that “this is the opportune time” for the Naga people to concertedly work for an “honourable and acceptable solution” to the Naga political issue.
Rio stressed the need of integration of “all the contiguous Naga areas”. He added that his Government always supported Naga integration and democratic rights of the Naga people. Rio appealed to the “neighbours” of the Naga people to “recognise the history and democratic rights of the Nagas so that they could live together under a spirit of peaceful co-existence in the truest traditions of harmony and friendship”.
Rio also expressed the hope that the appointment of RN Ravi as the Governor of Nagaland would give immense advantage to the Naga peace talks.
