Hailakandi BJP protests Gautam Roy’s inclusion
Correspondent
HAILAKANDI, Aug 13 - The members of Hailakandi district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demonstrated in front of the party office in protest against the inclusion of former Congress minister Gautam Roy.

The protest started today in front of State organisational secretary, Phanindranath Sarma. Sarma is in Barak Valley on a three-day visit to oversee organisational matters of the party. The young members of the party expressed anguish over the inclusion of Roy in the party and said that he was allowed to join only due to the personal interest of few top brass of the party. They demanded immediate resignation of district president Subrata Nath.

They alleged that Roy abused the BJP and RSS workers when he was in power and inclusion of such ‘tainted’ leaders will not be tolerated in Hailakandi. Sarma assured the party workers that he will discuss the matter with the party’s state head. Sarma yesterday visited Silchar and will visit Karimganj tomorrow.
