GUWAHATI, Aug 13 - Rainfall activities over the past 24 hours made temperatures plummet in parts of the NE region today providing the much needed relief to the people. The Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC), Guwahati today forecast light to moderate rainfall activities, accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning at many places over Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Sub-division today.
And for the city and its neighbourhood, it said that during the next 24 hours, the sky will remain partly cloudy and there is possibility of one or two spells of rain or thundershower.
The RMC said on its website that available data indicate that light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura, at many places over Assam and Manipur and at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, with isolated heavy rain over Assam and Meghalaya, during the past 24 hours.
Each of Guwahati and Dibrugarh today recorded a day temperature of 36.5 degree Celsius, while North Lakhimpur recorded 38.9 degree Celsius as its day temperature today and it was the highest day temperature recorded by any north-eastern place today.
Silchar and Itanagar today recorded a day temperature of 36.1 degree Celsius each. Passighat recorded a day temperature of 35.7 degree Celsius, Tezpur recorded a day temperature of 35.3 degree Celsius, Dhubri recorded 33.6 degree Celsius, Agartala recorded a day temperature of 32.6 degree Celsius, Lengpui recorded a day temperature of 32 degree Celsius, Kohima recorded 29.8 degree Celsius, Imphal recorded 28.7 degree Celsius, Aizawl 26.8 degree Celsius, Sohra recorded 26 degree Celsius and Shillong 25.2 degree Celsius.
