GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - The North East Diocesan Social Service Society (NEDSSS), in collaboration with NABARD, organised a three-day training programme on jackfruit processing from August 9 to 11.
The training helped the participants to equip themselves with knowledge and skills to process jackfruit in various food products items that would help them to take up livelihood activities.
Fr Varghese, director of NEDSSS, apprised the participants about the health benefits of jackfruit, especially for the diabetic. He requested every participant to take initiatives to create awareness among the people on the importance of the fruit which is easily available in people’s gardens.
The training concluded with an evaluation, where the participants shared their learning experiences and pledged that they would create awareness among the people through SHGs and farm clubs and take up those as livelihood activities.
