Staff Correspondent
SILCHAR, Aug 12 - Youth Against Social Evils (YASE), a local organisation burnt the effigy of Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain and demanded his resignation from the Ministry allegedly for raping a 24-year-old married woman in Nagaon district.

Sanjib Roy, president of YASE urged the Government to initiate a thorough probe into the matter and voiced demands of the Minister’s removal from the Ministry.

YASE demanded a high-level enquiry into the incident.Till then, the Minister should not be allowed to continue in office. Otherwise ‘Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao’ will just remain a rhetoric. To pay respect to women, the Minister should be sacked immediately,” Roy said.

He also said that a high-level probe should be initiated against the three MLAs of Barak Valley who have been accused of being involved in a sex racket in Silchar, which was recently busted.
