|Sonia, Shinde to visit State today|
GUWAHATI, Aug 12 – The chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Sonia Gandhi and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will visit Assam tomorrow to take stock of the situation in the ethnic clash hit Kokrajhar district. This will be Shinde’s first visit to the state after taking over as the Union Home Minister.
Official sources said that immediately after their arrival in the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi airport, Gandhi and Shinde, would visit Kokrajhar. During their visit, they would visit relief camps and talk to the inmates. They are also likely to visit one or two camps in Dhubri district, sources said.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhubaneswar Kalita will also accompany the UPA chairperson to Kokrajhar.
