India in touch with Bangladesh
Spl Correspondent
NEW DELHI, Aug 9 - The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) today clarified that India has been in close touch with the Bangladesh government both prior to and following the issuance of the final draft NRC for Assam.

“We have assured them (Bangladesh) that it is still a draft list prepared under orders of the Supreme Court and the process of identification of citizens of Assam is still under way,” MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

The MEA further said that the final draft NRC will not impact India’s ‘excellent’ relationship with Bangladesh. “The Bangladesh government has taken the view that the ongoing process is an internal matter of India,” he said.
