PhD orientation prog held at USTM

 JORABAT, Aug 8 - Dr Ajaikumar B Kunnumakkara, associate professor of the Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering, IIT-Guwahati, today said that desire to serve society should be the priority while taking up research for a PhD degree.

Kunnumakkara was speaking at an orientation programme for PhD scholars held at the University of Science and Technology (USTM), Meghalaya. He said that researchers should present the basic assumptions underlying the study and conduct the research in an orderly manner.

Dr Ratul Mahanta, associate professor of the Department of Economics, Gauhati University, also addressed the programme. He stressed the importance of publishing papers in reputed journals like Elsevier and Scopus.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Dr PK Goswami, Vice Chancellor of the USTM. The concluding remarks and vote of thanks were offered by Dr Balendra K Das, Director, Administration, USTM.
