Correspondent

HAFLONG, Aug 8 - Following the intervention of the Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner as persuaded by the N C Hills Autonomous Council, the works on Haflong-Jatinga road is going on in full swing.

The feeder road from Jatinga to Haflong was allotted to Simplex a few years ago, but could not be completed for some reasons causing immense inconvenience to the people for a long time. The students were the worst sufferers for the poor condition of the road.

A few days ago, DC Juri Phukan personally supervised the eviction drive to facilitate the work of the said road realising the necessity of its completion. The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of N C Hills Autonomous Council, Debojeet Thaosen, had also initiated the move for the early completion of the road.

Talking to this correspondent, the DC said that as the N C Hills Autonomous Council and the district administration were working together, the development of the district could be achieved genuinely. Expressing her satisfaction, she said that the current CEM had been maintaining a good reputation with the district administration.

“I am also eager to help him out in his development activities throughout the district. I hope the development of this tiny but beautiful district is sure to happen. The people of Dima Hasao are lucky enough to get such a good and development minded CHM,” the DC said.
