Hailakandi DC orders probe into anomalies
Correspondent
HAILAKANDI, Aug 7 - The Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi Adil Khan has instituted an enquiry into the scams and irregularities in South Hailakandi Development Block.

This was informed in a Government communique on Monday. Heading the investigation, District Development Commissioner FR Laskar inspected the sites and also the block office during the last couple of days. He met members of several organisations, who submitted memoranda to him alleging largescale irregularities in implementation of Government schemes, including MGNREGA.

Laskar told them that the district administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and would go to the bottom to unearth the anomalies and punish those found guilty.

Laskar also met the Block Development Officer and the Accountant and took stock of the status of work. Laskar seized some documents during his visit to the Block Development Office. The District Development Commissioner submitted a report to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday in which he pointed out that Government guidelines were flouted, resulting in anomalies in some schemes and projects.

Meanwhile, Khan has directed the CEO of Zila Parishad-cum-Project Director of District Rural Development Agency NKSK Singha to closely monitor and supervise the working of Block offices and ensure adherence to standard rules and procedures.
