Arunachal Guv discusses Sainik School affairs with minister

 ITANAGAR, Aug 6 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) today chaired a high-level meeting with Education Minister Taba Tedir and top-ranking State Government officials at the Raj Bhavan here and held a discussion on the Sainik School in East Siang district. Challenges, shortcomings and the road ahead were discussed at length in the meeting.

The Governor emphasised that concerted efforts must be made by all stakeholders to make the Sainik School, Pasighat, one of the best educational institutions of Arunachal Pradesh and among the best Sainik Schools of the North East.

He said that the lone Sainik School in the State can produce the best officers for the armed forces provided it has the requisite support from the State Government for adequate amenities for a good education ambience.

The Governor advised the Education Minister to review the progress of the school and expedite the process in developing the school campus which is in its nascent stage.

In just two years of its existence, the students of the school received accolades in the recently concluded Inter Sainik School competitions held in Imphal, the Governor pointed out.

Secretary of Education Madhu Rani Teotia, Secretary of Planning Himanshu Gupta, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh, SP Prashant Gautam, Sainik School principal Lt Cdr Amit Kumar Dutt, and Commissioner to the Governor RP Upadhyaya were present in the meeting.
