GUWAHATI, Aug 2 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday called upon all indigenous communities in the State to keep aside their differences and support the Bodo people who have been rendered homeless in their homeland by foreigners.
Party national spokesperson Tarun Vijay while addressing mediapersons here, said that the recent violence in Kokrajhar and other areas should be viewed as a demographic aggression against the entire country and not just as an assault on the Bodo community.
“The violence in Kokrajhar has clearly proved that a demographic war has started in Assam and the need of the hour is to rise above petty differences and unite against the aggressors,” said Vijay, calling upon the people of Assam to recall the legacy of Lachit Borphukan and unite against the illegal Muslim infiltrators.
The party appealed to the Tarun Gogoi government to rise above party politics and implement the directives of the Supreme Court regarding the infiltrators.
“Every single illegal Muslim infiltrator must be pushed back to save the indigenous people,” said Vijay.
Demanding review of land policy in Assam, Vijay stressed the need for stringent laws to ensure that land does not go to the hand of foreigners.
On the other hand, Vijay said that extra preventive measures must be taken by the government to protect the Hindus in Dhubri that is now a sea of infiltrators. “The Indian communities are facing a threat to their very survival in Dhubri district,” said Vijay.
The party further insisted that the financial aid from the Centre should go towards rehabilitation of genuine Indian citizens only.
“We have the apprehension that the Congress government will take this opportunity to give a permanent status to the illegal infiltrators. So we demand that identity of a certain section should be looked into before they are given the aid,” said Vijay.
It needs to be mentioned here that Vijay has decided to adopt 10 Bodo children affected by the violence.
