GUWAHATI, July 31 - The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU)’s annual event of felicitating the students who secured positions in the merit lists of HSLC and HSSLC examinations, would be held in August in a decentralised manner, appropriately following all COVID-specific norms.
The programme, which is organised every year in Guwahati, also honours principals and headmasters of the schools and colleges of the rank-holding students. In the same event, successful UPSC candidates of Assam are also felicitated.
This year, the meritorious students and the heads of their academic institutions would be felicitated by the AASU delegations in the presence of AASU’s central leadership at the district level.
“The step has been taken in view of the present COVID-19 situation. Every year, the event is held centrally in Guwahati, but this time our teams would reach out to the meritorious students and felicitate them for their accomplishments,” the student body stated.
On the other hand, AASU has appealed to its district, subdivisional and regional units to carry out their respective felicitation programmes of other meritorious students by visiting their respective homes, instead of holding any function. It appealed to all the AASU members to follow social distancing and Health department instructions during such felicitations.
