DIMAPUR, April 29 - Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang reached home to a rousing welcome after receiving a “Lifetime Achievement Award in Transformation” at the 6th Global Leadership Award, in Bali, Indonesia on April 23.
Thousands of people waited at Dimapur airport yesterday to welcome Zeliang at a grand civic reception organised by Naga Hoho and Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO). Naga Mothers Association representatives were also present at the programme.
Addressing the gathering, he said the coming together of the civil societies signified that “Nagas can walk together in unity” and urged the Nagas to work together to bring permanent peace, better understanding, development and progress in “our land”.
Dedicating the award to the people of Nagaland, Zeliang said, “I stand today because of your support. I share this award with our Naga people, all who have struggled against all odds to work for peace, stability and a better life for the common man”.
Naga Hoho president Chuba Ozukum said recognition of “our” leader at an International forum has brought laurels to the entire people. ENPO president Khoiwang also expressed the hope that after being conferred with the global award, Zeliang would continue to work more for the betterment and progress of the people of Nagaland.
