Announcing this on Wednesday, the party’s secretary, Henising Sangma said that the decision was taken at the residence of GNC president, Kalpana Sangma, widow of former GNC leader and MLA, Clifford Marak.
Various names had been doing the rounds including the GHSMC chairman, Nikman Marak, for fighting the MP election on a GNC ticket but the party later decided not to put up a candidate but support their alliance partner NPP in the GHADC.
“We will be extending support in the upcoming elections to NPP and hope our partnership wins the day. The decision was taken unanimously by our party members,” said a release by Henising.
