Vendors prohibited around Jalukbari rotary
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, April 29 - The Guwahati Traffic Police has prohibited commercial activities by vendors within a 200-metre radius of the Jalukbari rotary.

The action has been taken under Section 144 of CrPC, said an order issued by Pranab J Goswami, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Guwahati.

“...it has been made to appear to me that vendors by blocking the footpaths, carriageways and nearby areas of carriageways are running commercial activities all around the Jalukbari circle illegally by establishing temporary structures, movable carts, bicycles or by laying movable tables... by doing such activities the vendors are causing obstruction to the movement of pedestrians and other road users,” said the order.

Such activities “are causing and likely to cause threat to the human life and property and creating massive traffic congestion in Jalukbari,” it said.
