|Gogoi urges early resumption of rail services|
GUWAHATI, April 29 - In view of the inclement weather, coupled with incessant rain for the past few days which has caused disruption of the rail traffic in the Lumding-Silchar section, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has asked VK Pipersenia, Chief Secretary of the State, to communicate with the railway authority for easing encumbrances to the passengers.
The Chief Minister said that in view of the present situation and fresh landslide at Harangajao yesterday along the Lumding-Silchar section and the ordeal of the passengers, rail-traffic restoration work should be taken up on a war-footing and assured all help from the government.
Meanwhile, in view of the heavy rainfall leading to breaches in many places in the Lumding-Silchar hill section, the NFR today announced cancellation of a few trains.
The 55615 Guwahati-Silchar fast passenger scheduled to leave from Guwahati on April 30, May 1 and May 2, the 55616 Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger scheduled to leave from Silchar on April 30, May 1 and May 2 and May 3, the 25657 Guwahati-Silchar Kanchanjunga Express scheduled to leave from Guwahati on May 1, the 25658 Silchar-Guwahati Kanchanjunga Express scheduled to leave from Silchar on May 2, the 15602 Guwahati-Silchar Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express scheduled to leave from Guwahati on April 30, the 15601 Silchar-Guwahati Poorvattar Sampark Kranti Express scheduled to leave from Silchar on May 2, have been cancelled.
