GUWAHATI, April 26 - A 21-member team of Ashadeep – a city-based mental health society – consisting of students and teachers headed by its director Dr Anjana Goswami and Rajesh Kumar, member, Composite Regional Centre, represented Assam in ‘Divya Kala Shakti – Witnessing Ability in Disability’, a cultural extravaganza organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Cultural Centre recently, according to a press release issued here today.
The students of Ashadeep presented a Bihu dance before President Ram Nath Kovind. Talented divyang children and youths drawn from across the states of India conducted the entire programme by themselves and displayed their potential in music and dance. The Ashadeep students enthralled the audience with their extraordinary talents and sterling performance in Bihu dance.
President Kovind who attended the full programme, highly praised the talented divyangs coming from across the country. He said each of the performances by the divyang artistes was outstanding and beyond comparison. He said such programmes should be taken to all corners of the country, the release added.
