Significance of Rongali Bihu explained

 GUWAHATI, April 25 - The glory and grandeur, and the universal appeal of the Rongali or Bohag Bihu was explained with historical and literary references by senior journalist DN Chakravartty at a few Bihu celebrations at Panjabari, Kalapahar, and the Games Village.

 The celebrations at Panjabari took place on April 22, while the golden jubilee of Kalapahar Rongali Bihu celebrations concluded on Sunday.

Over 300 families of the Games Village celebrated the Bohag Bihu for the ninth year with a three-day programme, which concluded on Sunday.

Sankar Kakati Bora, president of the Games Village Bihu Committee, in his speech, dwelt on the close relationship of the Bihu with the agricultural community of the past and the entire Assamese community of the present.

Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury, Dr Harendranath Sarma, music director Ramen Choudhury, and former minister Gautom Bora also addressed the function.

Madhurima Choudhury and Rupam Bhuyan presented a musical programme.
