IMPHAL, April 25 – Eleven foreign professional models are set to walk the ramp at a mega fashion show here to showcase different ethnic attires, handloom and handicrafts of Manipur on April 27.
The models including Russian models Cheporukha Anastasia, Gorlova Daria, Karina Khan, Mashina Elizaveta and Ivanova Ekaterina, Ukraine models Rublova Anastasiia, Shurkina Tetiana and Makeich Anahelina, Paladi Vera from Maldova and Goncalves Silva Patricia from Brazil have arrived here in Imphal today.
Soon after their arrival here, the young foreign models took part in a road show on HIV/AIDS awareness at the busy Khwairamband Keithel market as part of their Imphal city tour. They also visited Singjamei Supermarket here. They are scheduled to go on a trip to the historic Moirang township, about 45 km from here, tomorrow.
“The models will walk the ramp in different ethnic designs belonging to more than 30 ethnic communities of Manipur,” says event director Kh Nishikanta, the man behind the fashion show being organised in association with Blue Wings, an event management group. “Our aim is to promote indigenous attires and fabrics so as to promote the economy besides promoting tourism”, he said.
Speaking to media here, 23 year-old Brazilian model Goncalves Silva Patricia said they came here to attend the fashion show as part of supporting the fashion trend.
