TINSUKIA, April 22 – Bihu is one of those occasions that provides people of different communities living together for many years in a commercial and cosmopolitan town like Tinsukia to enhance the brotherhood.
With the aim to enjoy Rongali Bihu together, since 2006, the Marwari community of Tinsukia has been celebrating Bihu under the banner of Tinisukia Asomiya Marwari Rongali Bihu Sanmilan. This year too, the Samiti organized Rongali Bihu celebration with daylong programme today at Manav Kalyan Puja Bhawan complex here.
The programmes included competitions of solo Bihu dance, Husori and Bihuoti. The successful competitors were awarded cash at the prize distribution meeting that was presided by Radhey Mohan Rashiwashia.
Earlier, the Bihu flag was hoisted by Parliamentary Secretary Raju Sahu, Smriti Torpon was initiated by Tepu Gogoi, renown artist and the Bihu Mancha was inaugurated by Pranab Baruah, chairman, Tinsukia Development Authority.
A cultural show was organised in the evening. On the occasion, Tinsukia branch of Marwari Yuba Manch with the cooperation of Tinsukia civil hospital, organised a blood donation camp at the Bihutoli.
