Staff Correspondent
SILCHAR, April 21 - Expressing strong displeasure over the filthy conditions at the Karimganj Higher Secondary School, Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has asked the district administration to suspend Ashish Kumar Das, Principal of the school, allegedly for taking no steps to keep the toilets and surroundings clean.

“During his visit to the school on Friday, the Governor found that the toilets and surroundings of the school were stinking, with no steps being taken to clean the mess.

The Principal of the school was repeatedly directed to keep the school in a clean and tidy condition, to which he paid no attention,”Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Pradip Talukdar told The Assam Tribune today.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that the Inspector of Schools for Karimganj Kabil Uddin Ahmed has already written to the Directorate of Higher Education to expedite the suspension order.

Interestingly, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome to the border town amidst stinking filth and trash littered across the city. Asked about the conditions, the Deputy Commissioner said that the local civic body which is an autonomous organisation should have carried out its responsibilities more efficiently. The Governor expressed his discontent over the dirty reality in Karimganj, the Deputy Commissioner informed.
