IMPHAL, April 20 - Seven persons including a juvenile accused of raping two underaged girls were produced before the Court which remanded them to police custody till April 25. The juvenile was, however, sent to Observation Home near here.
The seven, accused of raping two underaged girls on April 14 night, were arrested by Imphal East district police after the incident came to light, sources said. The two underage girls along with a friend were going to the Thabal Chongba festivities on a two-wheeler somewhere in Imphal East district when they were stopped by the seven persons and dragged inside a Maruti car.
Later, the girls were taken to a deserted area where the crime was committed. Meanwhile, medical test of the accused and the two victims was conducted.
Arms dealer held: Assam Rifles troops apprehended two arms dealer during an operation on April 15, according to a release. One M-16 assault rifle, one M-16 magazine, two mobile phones with two SIM cards and Rs 10,300 in cash were recovered from their possession.
