SBI staffer who died in Bangkok cremated |
GUWAHATI, April 20 - The body of Jutika Gogoi who met with a tragic end while scuba-diving at Bangkok was brought to the city today and later cremated at Navagraha.
Gogoi (55) who was vacationing at Bangkok with her husband Sanat Kalita, a senior bureaucrat with the State government, met with the accident on Tuesday while going for scuba-diving, a popular water-sport with tourists at Bangkok. Family sources said that she apparently had an accidental fall while walking down the underwater stairs, causing her oxygen mask to dislodge.
“Rescuers retrieved her in about a couple of minute’s time but it was too late by then. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was proclaimed dead,” a member of he family said.
Gogoi, who worked in the Kahilipara branch of State Bank of India, was loved by all for her amiable and helpful nature. Her death cast a pall of gloom in the SBI fraternity. She was a resident of Bhagaduttapur, Kahilipara. She leaves behind her husband, a daughter and a son. Her death has been widely mourned.
