HNLC calls 12-hr bandh
SHILLONG, April 20 – The banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has called a 12-hour bandh on April 22 coinciding with the BJP president Amit Shah’s visit to Meghalaya.

The outfit said that the bandh would start at 5 am and was being called in protest against the Indian political leadership and the alleged atrocities perpetrated by the Sangh Parivar on minorities.

Shah is slated to visit the State and address BJP workers and further hold meetings with leaders of regional political parties. Shah would also hold a meeting with church leaders and civil society groups separately.

The BJP president has been visiting the Northeastern States and has already been to Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur and is currently in Sikkim before reaching here in the State Capital.

Meanwhile, security arrangements are being put in place by the State police for Shah as he is covered under Z-plus security. The State unit of the BJP is also making elaborate arrangements for the visit of the party’s national president.
