Show cause to executive engineer
Staff reporter
GUWAHATI, April 20 – The district administration has issued a show-cause notice to the executive engineer, PWD (Roads), Guwahati City Division No 1, for non-compliance of instruction give by the Deputy Commissioner in connection with identification and repair of all broken footpaths in the division concerned.

The show-cause notice stated that the engineer had failed to ensure all means to prevent incidents like the one in which a young student, Sagarika Bora, died after she had fallen into an open hole in a footpath at Uzanbazar.

The executive engineer has been asked to reply before April 23, stating why legal action should not be taken against him, and why the competent authority should not be moved for taking disciplinary action for non-compliance of the order.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has asked the Guwahati Municipal Corporation and the PWD to ensure immediate steps to identify and repair all broken footpaths/manholes within their respective jurisdiction and submit action-taken report with photograph within April 30.
