Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebrated at Changsari

 BAJHATA CHARIALI, April 16 - Under the aegis of Dr Ambedkar Mission– an NGO of Dhopatari under Kamrup district, the 127th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was celebrated at Changsari on April 14 with a day-long programme.

 The programme organized in association with the Kamrup district administration began with the hoisting of flag and floral tributes paid at the portrait of Dr Ambedkar by Kamal Kumar Baishya, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (R) followed by banti prajalan by Esther Kather, District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Kamrup district. Parbin Ahmeda, District Social Welfare Officer perfomed smriti tarpan and at 11 am, the stage of the meeting was opened with the performance of a group song. At 12 noon, the open meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr Haren Das, ex-Director of Secondary Education, Assam. In the open meeting, Aparajita Bhuyan, advocate of Gauhati High Court graced the occasion as distinguished speaker. Synchronising with the celebration of the birth anniversary of the Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer Dr BR Ambedkar, the NGO felicitated a total of 50 persons of different levels of the society including students, social workers, journalists, artistes and labourers. In the cultural programme, a number of singer artistes including Neel Akash enthralled the audience.
