Dr Hazarika’s tomb cleaned up
Staff reporter
GUWAHATI, April 15 – Members of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and its Gauhati University (GU) unit on Friday cleaned up the mess near the tomb of Dr Bhupen Hazarika situated at the university campus, and gave it a flowery decoration.

In a statement, the AASU said that the upkeep of the tomb left a lot to be desired, resulting in development of an untidy environment near and around the tomb which had been left half-done by the authorities.

“The AASU members contributed manual labour in the morning of Goru Bihu and gave the tomb a facelift. They cleared up the mess, decorated the tomb with flowers and lit earthen lamps and incense sticks,” the AASU said in a statement. The AASU also demanded that the Government gave a permanent facelift to Dr Hazarika’s tomb.
