Police close to solving city murder case
STAFF Reporter
GUWAHATI, April 9 – Police claim to be very close to solving the murder case of Oloka Kalita, the 78-year-old widow who was killed on Monday, with the investigators hinting at the involvement of “someone close.”

Oloka Kalita, who resided along with her daughter in the Jyotinagar area, was gagged to death, reportedly by a gang of dacoits while her daughter had sustained injuries.

The investigators said that the crime scene has left many questions unanswered. Police, however, refused to divulge anything specific in the interest of investigation. “We are very close to cracking the case. At this moment, we can only say that it appears to be a murder orchestrated by someone close. It is just a suspicion and there are many facts to be verified before reaching any conclusion,” sources said.

In the FIR lodged at the Chandmari PS, the deceased’s daughter stated that a gang of miscreants entered their house through the main entrance – which was left open for some reasons – and after tying her and her mother, the miscreants took away everything they could lay their hands on.

City SSP AP Tiwari said that “investigation is on and police are very close to conclusion.”
