MIRZA, April 5 - APCC President Anjan Dutta lashed out at the BJP-led Government at the Centre stating that BJP has failed to fulfil its promises made two years back during the Lok Sabha election and it is now misleading the people of Assam by making fresh promises without fulfilling its previous promises.

Speaking in a public meeting attended by over 15,000 people at Bongaon in Chhaygaon LAC, Dutta attacked the former MLA and Health Minister of Assam, Dr Kamala Kalita saying that Kamala Kalita had failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Chhaygaon LAC during his 20-year-rule as MLA of the Chhaygaon LAC and now Dr Kamala Kalita is moving door-to-door seeking votes.

“Over 15,000 people from Rabha, Bodo and other tribes have attended the Congress meeting today and today’s meeting has proved that AGP candidate from Chhaygaon LAC Dr Kamala Kalita, backed by BJP and BPF, has lost the support of Rabha, Bodo and other tribes of Chhaygaon LAC and will be defeated with a huge margin this year,” said Dutta.

Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Gogoi, MP, said that Congress government has a policy for uplift of poorer section of the society while the BJP has a policy to develop the society of the rich.

“Today, BJP is seeking a change of Government in Assam only to help the rich to become richer and poor to become poorer. The BJP’s policy of change will help the rich but harass the poor section of the society,” said Gaurav Gogoi.

Chhaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed said that he has made speedy development in the Chhaygaon LAC and made South Kamrup a district with headquarter at Chhaygaon. The formation of South Kamrup as a district has already solved several problems of South Kamrup.
