Prabina Saikia award to Dr Arupa Patangia Kalita

 GUWAHATI, April 5 – Prabina Saikia Literary Award, instituted by the Assam Lekhika Sanstha, was presented to noted writer Dr Arupa Patangia Kalita today.

The award was instituted in 1999 in the name of writer and translator Prabina Saikia who was also the vice president of Assam Lekhika Sanstha.

In the award function held at Lakhiram Baruah Sadan here, eminent litterateur and Sahitya Akademy Award winner Atulananda Goswami gave away the award to Arupa Patangia Kalita, an Associate Professor in the Department of English of Tangla College.

Dr Kalita, a popular novelist, has authored a number of short stories and novels including Mriganabhi, Ayananta, Marubhumit Menaka Aru Anyanya, Kaitat Keteki, Millenniumar Sapon, Phelani and Rongamatir Paharto, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, she expressed her gratitude towards Assam Lekhika Sanstha for encouraging her with the Prabina Saikia Literary Award 2012. In his speech, Atulananda Goswami praised the writer for her inspiring work.
