Firing at protest rally against NDFB Correspondent MUSHALPUR, Sept 2 – An untoward incident was averted at Barbari in Baksa district today during a protest rally organised against the killing of Kamal Daimary (Khatowa), an ex-BLT man, and Gopit Sarania (Das), a BPF activist at Alia village under Barbari PS at 2.30 pm on September 1. NDFB cadres of Barbari designated camp reportedly opened fire to disperse a group of furious protestors who were marching towards the camp.
Security personnel who instantly arrived at the spot also fired into the air to prevent any untoward incident. The protedsters ran helter skelter to protect themselves.
Later, the bodies of Daimary and Sarania were brought to Barbari primary BPF office where they were paid the last respect. A mammoth protest rally was taken out from Barbari primary BPF office around Barbari PS upto the funeral site of the deceased where the protestors shouted slogans against the NDFB.
Talking to mediapersons Hitesh Basumatary, EM, BTC, and president, Mushalpur district BPF, maintained that as many as 64 innocent persons including former BLT cadres and BPF workers have been killed as yet the police has failed to nab the culprits. He said the police administration has failed to control NDFB but the public will not remain silent to atrocities, kidnappings, killings and extortion by NDFB. He demanded that either ceasefire with NDFB be discontinued or the designated camp of NDFB at Barbari in Baksa be withdrawn. He did not rule out political motive behind the killings as the nexus between NDFB and Rabiram Narzary is known to one and all.
It may be noted that Baksa police claimed NDFB hand in the killing.
