What is Bhakti
Sir, – Bhakti (devotion) is known today as a mere superstitious belief and mechanical ritual. The devotees follow these practices out of fear of losing what they have or hope of getting what they do not have. Bhakti is not beging. It is not crying for something.

The law of life is that we get what we deserve, not what we desire. Men make selfish demands in their prayers. The Lord is not passive or unintelligent as men think Him to be. He is not carried away by tears. He has no weak pity.

Bhakti is a religion, religion is not for all. There are only a few who can be, and will be religious, others cannot be religious, because they will not be awakened, and they donot want to be. The main thing is to want God. We want everything except God. So long as our needs are confined within the narrow limits of this physical universe, we cannot have any need for God. It is only when the need is there then the demand will come. – Yours etc., Dilip Kumar Chakrabarty, Rukmininagar, Guwahati.
