NEWS CAPSULE Vice-Admiral Vijay assumes command of ANC PORT BLAIR, Oct 1 Vice-Admiral Vijay Shankar has taken over as the 8th Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command. Shankar was presented an impressive 50 men Inter Service Guard of Honour at INS Jarawas after he took charge yesterday. Before assuming the charge of Andaman and Nicobar Command, he was Commander-in-Chief of Strategic Force Command. Vice-Admiral Shankar has an illustrious career spanning over three decades. He was also fleet Operations Officer of Western Fleet and had specialist tenures on board various fleet ships. PTI
Sea piracy NEW DELHI, Oct 1 The government today said it is formulating a strategy to deal with the increasing threat of piracy in high seas but ruled out hot pursuit as a policy to meet the challenge. PTI
