Sonia serves Khandu govt ‘lift PDS’ message Correspondent ITANAGAR, Nov 23 – The Dorjee Khandu-led Congress Government in Arunachal Pradesh has been served instruction from the party high command, with the UPA chairperson and AICC chief Sonia Gandhi’s emissary V Narayanasamy handing him the “lift PDS” message.
This message came on the eve of the Gandhi scion, Rahul’s visit to the State capital.
“Congress president Sonia Gandhi is very much concerned about the Public Distribution System (PDS) here in Arunachal Pradesh. She has instructed the Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu to properly implement the PDS so that every tribal people living in the villages could get the PDS ration commodities on time,” said Narayanasamy, the Union Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs, at a press conference at the State party headquarters here last evening.
He, however, said that the Khandu-led Congress Government will fulfil all election promises. “Whatever assurances were given to the people in our party’s election manifesto will be fulfilled by the State Government. We will see to it that the government keeps all the commitments.”
In its manifesto, the party made promises to bring improvement in education, social security and cottage industries sectors besides promoting the local cultural traditions, he said.
Lauding the Pradesh Congress for its impressive poll performance, Narayanasamy, who is also the AICC general secretary & in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh, put the hilly State one-up on Maharashtra and Haryana, which also went to simultaneous Assembly polls.
Toeing the line of Sonia’s instruction, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu said he will accord top priority to the public distribution system for its proper implementation in the State. He also said that with the Congress-led UPA Government’s backing, his government will go with all the ongoing projects initiated during his previous stint.
