Bholanath Hazarika CORRESPONDENT DERGAON, Nov 10 Bholanath Hazarika, a noted freedom fighter, ex-vice president of All Assam Moina Parijat and popularly known as Moina Kaka died on November 6 at his Dergaon Lathagaon residence at around 4-30 pm due to old age ailments. He was 85. Born in 1924 at Lathagaon Dergaon he started schooling at Dergaon High School. Later he joined in Indias Independence struggle and also took part in the Quit India movement of 1942. He was actively associated with the establishment of DKD College, Dergaon Girls school, etc. He was associated with Moina Parijat and became the vice-president of the organisation in 1962 and continued for several years. His death was widely mourned by several organisations. He leaves behind his wife,four sons,three daughters,three daughters-in-law along with a host of relatives and well wishers.
Rajat Baruah GUWAHATI, Nov 10 Rajat Kr Baruah, retired Commissioner and Secretary, Revenue, Govt of Assam, passed away at the GMCH today following a cardiac arrest. He was 75. Born at Jorhat in 1934, Baruah settled in Tarun Nagar area in Guwahati. Baruah was loved and respected by all for his amiable nature and gentle disposition. Baruah stood first in the Entrance Examination in 1952. He maintained an outstanding academic career throughout and later made his mark as a distinguished administrator, serving the Govt in different capacities. He leaves behind his wife and a daughter.
NR Phookan GUWAHATI, Nov 10 Nayan Ram Phookan, third son of late Pulin Ram Phookan who was a member of the Deshabhakta Tarun Ram Phookan family died at his Bharalumukh residence in the wee hours of the November 5 due to protracted breathing problems. He was 72. He was a former student of Sonaram HS School and looked after the landed properties of his father, who donated the entire land for the construction of the Champawati High School in Dhirenpara area of the city. He was closely associated with various religious functions held in the western part of the city. He leaves behind his wife, three daughters, two son-in-laws and a lot of relatives.
