Thousands throng Nalbari Raas festival FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT NALBARI, Nov 6 – Thousands of people from different parts of the State thronged the Nalbari Harimandir premises to witness the 11-day-long Raas festival which got underway on November 2. The flow of visitors to the festival picked up from yesterday. All roads of the town, including Hajo-Nalbari Road, NT Road, Dhamdhama Road, Palla Road, Barama Road, were today witnessed a huge rush due to the growing flow of visitors. The police administration has checked the movement of all commercial vehicles about two kilometres from the venue in the all connecting roads.
The Nalbari district administration in a press release issued today declared local holiday tomorrow on account of the Raas festival. All State Government offices, schools, colleges will remain close on Saturday.
The Nalbari Harimandir committee this year has taken some special steps to modernise the stalls to attract the visitors. The main mandap of the Raas was decorated with several pairs of Lord Radha-Krishna idols. The Nalbari Raas festival will come to an end on November 12 next.
