SAKP call to solve contentious issues
STAFF Reporter
GUWAHATI, Nov 4 – The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) has laid stress on resolving the contentious issues concerning the Assam Pay Commission 2008 report through negotiations. It has also made an appeal to the State Government to publish the Pay Commission report in detail. In a statement here, the Parishad has reminded that the contentious issues of the 1994 Pay Commission report could be resolved to a great extent by a sub-committee of the State Ministry.

It has also reiterated its stand that the announcements made by the Chief Minister that the salaries and other facilities of the State Government employees would be made at par with those of the Central Government employees, should be translated into reality.

The Parishad will discuss the issue at its steering committee meeting scheduled for November 7 at Nalbari as well as its November 12 representative meeting being held at Guwahati.

The meetings would try to suggest remedies for resolving the contentious issues related to the Pay Commission report.

It needs mention here that the SAKP has already pointed out the defects in the pay scales suggested in some of the pay bands. It has also opposed the one per cent annual increment and performance-based annual increment suggested by the Pay Commission and demanded three pre cent annual increment instead in line with the Central Government pay structures.
