Counselling on career in Govt colleges STAFF Reporter GUWAHATI, Nov 4 – Career CliniQ, a career counselling unit, is conducting a month-long career awareness programme in various government colleges of the State highlighting the risk factors and suggesting ways to take informed decisions in view of the mushrooming of private management educational institutions that profess to offer quality education without actually doing so.
In a statement, Career CliniQ said that many of the private management colleges/institutes had poor credentials and could effectively jeopardize the students’ career prospects.
“Misleading information about placements, salary packages and infrastructure facilities lure the management aspirants towards such unscrupulous management institutes… Many students are forced to start working at significantly low salaries which makes their dream of a good living a distant dream. Lack of information is at the root of such disasters. With CAT round the corner and Sep MAT results just being out, many of the unscrupulous management institutions are already eyeing the probable failures in these tests so that they can woo them to their institutes,” it said.
It also advised the students to check the UGC website for verifying the credentials of different institutes which often resort to fraudulent practices to lure students. “Students may consult the ‘career doctors’ of Career CliniQs located across the State. These ‘career doctors’ are also available on select dates and select times in government colleges of various districts in the State,” it added.
