OBITUARY

NC Bordoloi

 JORHAT, Nov 2 – Noted ophthalmologist, social worker and litterateur Nabin Chandra Bordoloi passed away at a nursing home in Dibrugarh on Wednesday evening. His body reached Jorhat at midnight and was cremated on Thursday afternoon. He was 83. Dr Bordoloi, besides opening the Drishti Eye Clinic here, was associated with a number of socio-welfare and educational institutes. He was the president of the managing committee of Jonaki Sangha Vidyalaya, former president of the managing committee of Jorhat Theatre Hall, former treasurer of Asam Sahitya Sabha and former president of Jorhat Sahitya Sabha. Earlier Bordoloi worked in the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. The body of Bordoloi was taken to Jonaki Sangha Vidyalaya, Jorhat Theatre Hall, Asam Sahitya Sabha office and a few other places where rich tributes were paid by the people. He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Reban Ch Nath
 SIPAJHAR, Nov 2 – Reban Chandra Nath, president of Darrang District Sahitya Sabha and former principal of Sipajhar College, died last night at his Sipajhar residence. He was 66. One of the leading citizens of Darrang district, he was closely associated with socio-literary and cultural organisations. He has also written a good number of books and was also a good singer and music composer. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. His death was widely condoled. - Correspondent
