OIL lift ATPA Shield CORRESPONDENT JORHAT, Nov 2 Former champions, Oil India Football Club, regained the ATPA Shield in its 49th edition with a convincing 2-0 victory against Green Valley Sports Club of Guwahati.
Right from the kick off on wards, the OIL team started dominating with better tactics. They shared the ball more in comparison to the Guwahati outfit. Their ace striker Stephen opened the account in the 36th minute outwitting the Green Valley defence (1-0).
Midfielder HL Ruata enhanced the margin after four minutes of the first goal with an eye catching long ranger. Ruatas shot hit the back of the net after kissing the lower edge of the bar (2-0).
The Duliajan boys continued their domination in the lacklustre and dry second session.
Morning Star Club of Diphu got the Puneswar Kachari Fairplay Trophy while Ruata was awarded the best player award and received the Tolen Saikia Trophy. Assam Rifles H Hoakip received the highest scorers trophy.
Local MLA Rana Goswami presided over the closing function where DC LS Changsan and former State footballer Dambaru Khanikar were also present.
