CPI flays Govt decision on VAT
GUWAHATI, Nov 2 – The Assam State Council of Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly opposed the additional increase of VAT by the Government of Assam at a time in which it has failed to control the unprecedented price hike of essential commodities. This decision of the Assam Government will sharply increase the burden of the common people of the State, a press statement issued by the party’s secretary Bhogeswar Dutta said.

The party has strongly demanded roll-back of the unjust and anti-people decision of increasing VAT. The Council has appealled to the people of the State to build up a united movement against such anti-people decision of the Assam Government.
