Rural development policy formulated: CM
 GUWAHATI, Nov 1 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who attended the Assam Moran Sabha at Wathoi under Buridihing Mouza today, applauded the Sabha for their efforts to amalgamate and unite the people to take the community forward. Gogoi mentioned that the Government has formulated a policy of rural-oriented programmes, adding that only rural development can lead to the overall development of the state, said an official press release here.

He said roads are the pathways of connectivity between the villages and cities for marketing their products, for better emergency medical facilities and also for the students to pursue higher studies. In this context he highlighted the importance of Bharat Nirman Project, NREGA, SHGs and implementation of various government schemes for well-being of the people living in the remote and border areas.

The Chief Minister stated that in comparison to earlier years many developmental works have been undertaken and yet there are many things to be done which his government is committed to take up, particularly in the areas of health, women empowerment and in the field of technical education. He lauded the efforts of Dr KK Dwivedi, DC of Tinsukia for his challenge to develop various remote areas in Tinsukia district.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Industries and Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi was given a rousing welcome with Gayan Bayan. Thousands of people thronged the site of the function.

Minister Bordoloi also voiced the importance of road connectivity for further development of electrification, education, plantation and healthcare. He was happy to note that Tinsukia has been gradually developing and trying to reap the benefits under various government schemes.

An exhibition was also held showcasing the ethnic and traditional fabrics, medicinal plants and various tools, the release added.
