Holy Child school celebrates Parents’ Day

 GUWAHATI, Nov 1 – The Parents’ Day of the city’s Holy Child Higher Secondary School was celebrated with a two-day programme on October 30 and 31 at the school premises. Two groups of students from Class KG to Higher Secondary level presented various colourful programmes on both the days.

The celebrations were launched with the students performing to the tune of Michael Jackson classic ‘We are the World, We are the Children’. Sister Anne, headmistress of the school welcomed all the parents and the guests. Minati Barthakur, counselor with the Dr B Baruah Cancer Institute was the chief guest on the first day, while Dhandip Mahanta, Secretary, Board of Secondary Education, Assam attended the function as the chief guest on the second day. Several beautiful-choreographed thematic dance programmes were performed including, ‘Unity is Strength’, Dr Nirmal Prava Bardoloi’s adaptation of ‘Vande Mataram’, pop icon Micheal Jackson’s another classic ‘Save the Earth’, ‘Raindrops of Gratitude’, ‘India of our Dreams’, among others. Two Class IX students Ankita Baruah and Ruchira Gogoi ably did the anchoring of the function.

The SEBA Secretary, in his speech as chief guest, underlined the need of the parents-teachers participation in bringing out the best in a child. He highlighted the efforts of the Board in creating modern syllabuses in the State academic courses, trying to bring parity with similar courses in the country.
