Harijan bridge
Sir, – After several representations by the people of Barpeta the E&D department opened the mouth of both sides of the Maranadi in 2004. Ultimately it has brought about a great change in the day to day life of this traditional Satra-town of Barpeta.

In order to make transportation facilities the department concerned constructed some wooden bridges in various places over the rivulet Harijan but it failed to provide any benefit to the people as all the wooden bridges have become dilapidated. Even a young boy of Barpeta was killed a few days back in an accident that took place in Fatahati bridge. This tragedy occurred due to the negligence of the E&D department.

I would like to request the department concerned to repair the bridges without further delay or replace them by RCC bridges. – Yours etc., HIREN DAS, B.B. Road, Barpeta.
