Importance of tree plantation highlighted

 KAMPUR, June 22 – World Environment Day was observed recently at Kampur College under the aegis of the college authority and the Kampur College Scouts and Guides unit.

The programme began with hoisting of flags of Kampur College and Scouts and Guides unit of the college by Dr AK Routray, principal of the college and PR Saikia in presence of students, teachers and locals.

A number of prominent personalities, including SR Mazumdar, retired principal of Kampur College, Labanya Laskar, retired Inspector of Schools, Dr AK Routray and PR Saikia spoke about the urgent need for planting trees and adopting other measures which might maintain ecological balance as well as prevent global warming.

The students and the Scouts and Guides unit of Kampur College planted saplings covering a large plot of land of the college. Prof Mini Debi, range leader of the Scouts and Guides unit of Kampur College guided the scouts and guides unit to plant the trees systematically.
