Driving licence
Sir, – The practical step to issue driving-licences with 20-years’ validity upto 50-years of age by Delhi government has virtually vanished queues at counters of Transport Department for renewal of driving licences. We applied for renewal of our driving licences at Timarpur (Delhi) office of Transport Authority on January 15, 2010. The authority mailed the new renewed bio-metric driving licence by Speed Post ensuring its delivery at our place on the very next day. Other government-departments should take such efficient and hassle-free attitude of Transport Authority as role-model to provide user-friendly service to the members of public.

However the Transport Department should further reduce paper-work by merging renewal-form and self-declaration medical-fitness statement in one consolidated form. Documentary proofs of date of birth and residence should not be insisted at time of renewal unless there is a change in residence. –Yours etc., MADHU AGRAWAL, SUBHASH CHANDRA AGRAWAL, Dariba, Delhi.
