Setubandh Samaroh at Khatara satra from Jan 21

 DUNI, Jan 19 – Asom Satra Mahasabha’s 5th Setubandh Samaroh, ethnic groups’ Ankia Bhaona and North Eastern Cultural Samaroh will be held with a four-day-long colourful cultural programme at historic Khatara Satra under Darrang district from January 21.

In this connection, the reception committee formed with Binanda Kumar Saikia, MLA of Sipajhar LAC as the president and Baloram Baishya as the general secretary have been working hard to make the Somaroh a grand success.

The programme will begin with Prabhat feri at 5 pm of January 21. This will be followed by hoisting of historic Khatara Satra’s Dharmadhaja and Ashom satra Mahasabha’s flag. Dhuruba Hazarika, DC, Darrang will inaugurate the main ‘toran’ of the samaroh while Ajit Kumar Bara, commanding officer 65 Field Regiment will inaugurate the door of exhibition and book fair.

The delegates’ camp will be inaugurated by PP Sing, SP Darrang. Rabindra Sarma Mahanta, Chief preacher of Mahapurushia Baishnav Santa Samaj will participate as the inaugurator of Skhelra and main venue of somaroh. Ranen Kumar Goswami senior journalist will inaugurate ‘samanite jubatirtha sanmilon’ to be held under the directorship of Hemanta Bijoy Mahanta of Khatara Satra. Nripen Mahanta of Kaliabor Srabani Satra will be the appointed speaker of the sanmilon where senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan and Prasanta Rajguru, Dilp Patgiri, advisor, AJYCP, Pradeep Goswami, secretary of Asom Satra Mahasabha, Delhi branch, Tapan Kumar Gogoi, secretary, AASU, Indra Chukrang, general secretary of TMPK, Brajen Kakoti, president of Hindu Juba Chatra Parishad, Ramesh Chandra Das, chief advisor of Sadou Asom Sarania Kachari Chatra Santha etc. have consented to attend as the guest orator.

A ‘Janagosthiya silpi samaroh aru silpi sambardhana anusthan’, ethnic groups artists conference and felicitation function will also be organised on the occasion. Dhanpati Kalita, president of Sanaton Dharma Sabha will inaugurate it to be held under the presidentship of Bangshi Barua, president of Darrang Zilla Parishad. Kalpana Deka, circle officer of Patharighat Revenue Circle will attend it as the guest of honour.

The first day’s programme will conclude with lighting of earthen lamp and inauguration of bhaona performance.

The second days’ programme will also begin with pratah-prasanga. Other programmes will include interaction among artists, late Chandra Kanta Mahanta memorial lecture function, release of books and sourvenir and bhaona show. More than a score distinguished speakers including Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, former Chief Minister, Karuna Kalita, Padadhikar, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. Asam Sahitya Sabha president Rangbong Terang, Rabha Sahitya Sabha president Jagat Kama, Chautali Sahitya Sabha president Mukul Tudu, Nepali Sahitya Sabha president Nava Sapkata, former Revenue Minister of Assam Dr Zoii Nath Sarma, distinguished Bangla litterateur Sankar Prashad Chaterjee, noted Dimasa litterateur Pradeep Kemprai, Sipajhar MLA Binanda Kumar Saikia, Mangaldoi MP Ramen Deka etc. will participate as the orators of books and sourvenir release meeting.

Procession and open meeting will be the main programme of third day. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Union Minister Bijoy Krishna Handique will be the chief guest of the open meeting to be held under the presidentship of Asom Satra Mahasabha’s president Bhadra Krishna Goswami. As the appointed speaker, distinguished litterateur Atulananda Goswami will address the meeting where about 20 invited distinguished guests including Dr Makundakam Sarma, judge, Supreme Court, Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Forest and Tourism Minister Rockybul Hussain etc. will participate as the guest of honour. In the evening Swapanil Barua, secretary cultural directorate, Assam will inaugurate the cultural Somaroh.

On January 24, the four-day-long programme will conclude with an interaction between artists and delegates of Asom Satra Mahasabha.
