Goreswar College faculties conduct field surveys
 GORESWAR, Jan 17 – Various teaching departments of Goreswar College in Baksa district recently completed a field survey at various places under the jurisdiction of the vast Goreswar area.

According to a release issued by the principal Khargeswar Deka, the departments which conducted field survey were Education, English, Political Science, Philosophy, Mathematics, Economics, Assamese, History and Bodo. At first the Education department of the college completed its field survey at Barphukankhat village 2 km east of Goreswar on topic – survey of socio-economic condition of the village which was followed by English department. Its topic an investigation into the causes of low achievement of students in English at the secondary level with special reference to the students studying in the secondary schools of Goreswar area and their remedies.

The Political Science department topic was women and health awareness of village Barphukankhat. The topic of the Philosophy department was Moral and religious awareness of the people in the village Barphukankhat, while a survey on the topic “The causes of poor performance of students of secondary schools in Mathematics and suggestion for possible remedes was completed by the Mathematics department of the college. The Economics department of the college completed the survey on the topic Modernisation of agriculture a study of no 1 Hajalpara village under Goreswar development block while the Assamese departments’s topic was the Marriage method of the Koch-Rajbongshi, Nath and Sarania communities of Barphukankhat village. In case of the History department, “Historic city of the king Arimatta and its impact on North Kamrup was the topic and the Bodo department of the College compileted the field survey on the topic of Religious festival of the both on a study in No 1 Balabari village, 3 km west from the college of Betna mouza, in Baksa district.

Inter-college debating competition: An all-Assam inter-college debating competition in memory of the founder principal of Goreswar College, Sarat Chandra Patowary, is being organised by the college on January 30, in the college auditorium.

The topic of the debate is – ‘In the opinion of the house-introduction of semester system at the TDC level will help in achieving the goals of quality education’. The first prize is Rs 6000, second prize Rs 3000 and third prize Rs 2000. Students from all college and universities of Assam with due permission from the authorities are requested to send their filled in registration forms to Dr Dilip Chandra Das, secretary organising committee, Goreswar College, PO Goreswar, Pin-781366, District Baksa. Two students from each college can participate in the debate in one for the motion and one against. Admission going fees Rs 100 per competitor while lodging facility will be provided to the candidates coming from distant places, a press release issued by Dr Khargeswar Deka, principal, Goreswar College stated.
